I was running a server for my friends, and talking on aim at the same time.

suddenly, aim disconnects and i lose connectioni to the internet, and nothing would bring it back up short of a restart. Then i try it again, and after a while it does the same thing again. sometimes it takes a while to happen, other times it just happens quite fast.

I'm using cable modem with Road Runner, does anybody have a similar problem/solution?

zone alarm has been known to fvck up machines. I would uninstall that, and make sure that the service is completely disabled because zone alarm likes to leave things behind from the install. good luck.

as far as I know, roadrunner seems to be ok with servers running, however, I have heard of a few people that cannot run windows servers, but linux works fine for them. maybe look into it. I had a friend that called his ISP and asked if he could have servers, and they disconnected him. I would call as a prospective customer and get some information.
