Kimbo is making a comeback

This should make the next ultimate fighter show very interesting. I bet Kimbo will lose his first fight.

MSNBC Sports

Not content to be beaten by MMA's Fighter Most Likely To Appear as an Extra In a Twilight movie, Kimbo Slice has accepted an invitation to be a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 10.

Slice has called UFC president Dana White's bluff and will appear on Season 10 of the highly rated Spike TV series, White has confirmed ... His appearance, along with that of former UFC light heavyweight champions Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans as coaches, should guarantee massive ratings.

"It should be interesting, given some of the things I've said about him," White said.

That prior public drama and the massive ratings for Kimbo's EliteXC fights are behind the invitation, a piece of superb showmanship by the UFC president. Purists will bemoan Slice getting a slot on The Ultimate Fighter ? a show first, but also the coming out part for legitimate talent like Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans ? because it takes a space away from a younger, perhaps more traditional MMA fighter.

This is true: someone who might otherwise benefit from the show's exposure will miss that chance thanks to someone largely famous for beating up flabby Miami bouncers in backyard bareknuckle matches uploaded to YouTube.

Don't sleep on this upside, though: based on all the evidence thus far, any extremely skilled MMA fighter who could qualify for The Ultimate Fighter who gets Slice in a fight now essentially has a bye week built into the schedule, and the chance to permanently pop the Kimbo bubble by defeating him. (Born 2003; currently on life support and breathing shallowly with faint pulse.)

Even if Slice does well in the competition, White wins either way. Slice wins, and he gets the ratings; Slice loses, and he was not only right in his public denigration of Slice's skills, but he also boosts the strength of the UFC brand in the process by showing the skills of their aspiring fighters.

If Kimbo fades out in the grip of a nasty triangle choke against the relative babies featured in The Ultimate Fighter, imagine what would happen if he stepped in the ring against someone like Rampage Jackson or Anderson Silva?

You think he's gonna lose his first fight? Have you seen some of the scrubs they have on that show? I always hated the guy, but the bottom line is the dude can fight. Kimbo has more class in his left nut than Dana White has in his whole body.

His ground game isn't good enough, he's just a very strong striker that will lose the majority of his fights to submission specialists.

Yup. He only won against scrubs. Hell even some of them beat him but the refs kept breaking it up everytime he was getting hammered.

Kimbo is not a fighter, he is a street brawler. Its one thing to beat up a bouncer on the street but quite another to fight an aspiring professional MMA fighter.

We all saw what happened when Kimbo lost to Seth Petruzelli.

I can't wait to see the show.

I would hardly call Ray Mercer, Tank Abbott, and James Thompson scrubs. Are they elite level fighters? No. Are they scrubs? Not by a long shot.

Dana White must have beaten Vince McMahon on the bidding war for this low life piece of trash.

 to the UFC. I suspect Kimbo will make it to the finals or else the ratings for TUF 10 will not be very good.

i dont think he has the training or the real MMA fighters have such as anderson silva and cro cop. he is a street fighter that has been on the streets for too long to be able to adapt to the fighting styles/rules of MMA. i'd like to see brock fight him though...

Seth Petruzelli is a damn good fighter. That doesn't mean anything.

Seth is a good fighter? Compared to who? If you think seth is that great then your not a fan of mma 🙂...why do you think they kicked him out of the UFC? I"m not saying he is totally crappy but he is definitely not that great.

That being said kimbo will be killed by any HW with skill: Frank Mir, Coutoure (if he stays at HW), Shane Carwin, Dos Santos, Lesnar, Gonzoga...ect. Unless they have a crappy lineup i can guarantee kimbo won't win the show. Of course i think the ufc does have a few crappy HW (Just McCully)

as long as Kimbo avoids back peddling 1 footed jabs to his chin, he might last a fight or two

also, some of the threads / conspiracy theories on fighters throwing fights against Kimbo in EliteXC (except for Petruzelli) are hilariously plausible

Why all the hate? He has the opportunity to prove himself and get into the UFC just like any other fighter. Besides, he can't possibly be worse than some of the guys on this current season of TUF.

Well, compared to Dan Severn I suppose. But lemme guess, Dan Severn sucks right? Just because he isn't Anderson Silva doesn't mean he's a bum. He's far from it. There are lots of good fighters out there.

Yeah, people were saying the same thing about Brock Lesnar.

Hmm.. he still needs to fight his way on right. does this mean he alreayd made that little cut

There was a good article up on Yahoo about this. The "hate" for Kimbo should be aimed at the old EliteXC promoters. Kimbo really is a humble guy...he got thrust into the spotlight. Given the chance to train with a decent, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Totally agree.

Also Jdawg is a mma wannabe. Seth Petruzelli is a joke. Dan Severn was a decent fighter for where mma was at the time.

In order to make a comeback wouldn't that imply you've actually been good at one point.

Actually looking forward to seeing Kimbo in TUF house. Will probably get knocked out first round of first fight.
