We all know the story... I don't really care about right or wrong. Anyway, his new service, "Mega" was supposed to use the domain Me.ga, but Gabon Telecom took it away at the behest of the powers that be (read: US Gov & Big Content).

So he went and got a new domain in New Zealand instead.

On Twitter, Dotcom announced “New Zealand will be the home of our new website: http://Mega.co.nz - Powered by legality and protected by the law.” When Gabon shut down Me.ga, Dotcom blamed “the reach of the US and Vivendi,” as the Me.ga domain was provided by Gabon Telecom, a subsidiary of the Vivendi entertainment company.

Mega.co.nz. Read it out loud as one word. Irony? :whiste:

The US government has way too much power. it's sickening to think that they can take something away from someone in a completely different country.

I don't know what The Pirate Bay is doing that is stopping the US from shutting it down, but Kim should look at doing the same. His planned music service is seen as a threat to the RIAA so they will pay the government to stop him no matter what it takes.
