hi everyone,

and thanx for all the previous help! I need help again...
i'm using windows 2k. when i type "netstat -a" in the command prompt, it shows ports listening and those connections that are also established. if I want to kill a connection, i.e. end it, how can i do that from the command line.

hope someone can help me :)

I don't know how to do that, but you'd have to do it on each consecutive reboot, if you did it that way.
Some service, protocol, or application is using that connection. Your best bet, AFTER CONSIDERABLE RESEARCH, is to disable the service or protocol using that connection.
You have to be careful doing that, since there are several seemingly innocuous services that seem unimportant, till you kill them.
That is why you must research it out first.

If you get a GOOD software firewall (NOT ZONEALARM), it'll be able to do this for you. I have dont this with a program called Tiny Personal Firewall. IT shows each connection and you can kill it temp or tell it not to let it connect again.

Thanks to Wannafly and Skyking! I have used Tiny PF and it's really nice. There are some computers that don't have firewalls and I just wanted a way to do it on the fly. I'll do more research. Thanx again!!
