Now respond with a nice diatribe and attempt to create a pointless debate like you always do. BOL... You seem to interject something about your wife being Japanese in every thread, and act as if no one but you and here have ever lived there.

ironic isn't this? yet so many really do care about a lot of what I post here, however since you speak for all of AT who am I to say anything right?

My mention of my wife being Japanese is only in the threads where she has actually commented on 'that is not correct' and then only because the next reply is always 'How would you know what happens in Japan, you live in Florida?'. As far as no one else being there that was never what I said...as a matter of fact I know a ton of people that has been there and lied about the whole experience, esp guys that think all americans automatically are proposed to before leaving the airport and then a ton of over exaggerations and outright lies.

Now as far as no one giving a fvck...brother of Mary, you by your own reply must, right? Why else did you reply?

For the record Brother of Luvly doesn't bother me at all, so many attacked her without even reading what she posted half the time....if anything it only solidifies that yet again so many want to try and jump on the 'cool team' to make up for their sorry lives.

Like Rogue said, (and I just googled it to make sure), cats in general seem to dislike the smell
of citrus, and some cats are noted to be allergic to orange-oil based products.

What you could try is buying some oranges, saving the peelings, slicing them up a bit (into small pieces)
and spreading those pieces around the yard (it shouldn't bother the dog).

If that works, keep in mind that the peelings dry out after a few days, so you may have to do it again
a few times a week until the cats get the idea.

Mill: If you get me some product recommendations, I will try a spray as long as it's not $50 a bottle.

As for the slingshot/hose/water gun recommendation, it won't work. I have determined that they go on our lawn somewhere between 11pm and 7am because those are the times of our dog's evening and morning outings, and we've seen the four latest "gifts" appear on two separate occasions between those hours. We have an overhanging balcony on the second floor which makes observation of the lawn nearly impossible -- we can only see half of it if we're actually leaning over the wall. We would have to sit in one of our cars all night to figure when they are there. I do have a slingshot and have taken some shots at cats in the street, when alerted by the dog, but I have no way of knowing which cats they are. I'll look into the citrus thing -- too bad I didn't know a couple months ago when the tangerines were in season! I think there's a different crop coming in a few months though.

As for the bizarre comments of another person in this thread, I would really advise you to stay off the drugs for a little while. And, no, I am not just reading Japan Update for local stories. What a loon.

Just toss a bunch of orange peels around areas where they cats usually do their business. Or try some cayanne pepper in those areas.

Yes! Ammonia! Pour it on the ground where you want to keep the cats away from and it works great. I use it everyonce in awhile around my lanai when all these damn stray cats try to get into my garbage can. Everyone in my neighboorhood uses it and its seems to be working great so far. Just be careful if you have other pets, not to let them near it.

I'd forgotten about that...

Sprinkle some Tobasco sauce around. No kidding. My cats hated the stuff. Wouldn't even get near me after I'd eaten some.

Moth Balls / Naptha crystals are also a good repellent, and are ususally pretty available (and cheap).

I don't know what they'll do to the yard though, maybe try 'em out in a hidden area first.

Good Luck

Scott

I vote for antifreeze, just because I absolutely hate cats at this point (I'm kidding! OP doesn't want to kill them). I've told my wife that we are never, ever getting another cat again.

I dunno, my suggestion is lure them to you some how, and then grab em and stuff em in a sack. Take an hour drive into the countryside, and then toss the sack. They don't seem to have much problem "doing it on their own" as it is.

Get a few Doberman Pinschers...................that will take care of your cat problems..

My sister has one - he's a pussy. All bark no bite. Though he puts on a good act of being big and tough when someone even so much as walks by...

He lived with a cat for some time, so he thinks nothing of them now.

I've got the same problem with someones cat coming into my yard. I'll try the ammonia and citrus thing.

My neighbor next door and I had our dogs poisoned with antifreeze. Both animals died. I would really think twice about doing something like that. Here in Colorado, it is now a felony.
