Should be easy enough to benchmark right? Just need to be able to dump FPS out to a file while playing a multiplayer match in a game. I think you're right though, this isn't gonna help performance at all.
 
Seems like a total waste of money. That said I will still be interested to see reviews and benchmarks.
 
if it wouldn't "kill" your wallet it might actually be worth something
large buffers/caches on a gigabit nic, or most any peripheral/addin device, isn't such a bad idea imo
