killer usb ports?

is this even possible?
running a s939 athlon with an abit av8 mobo
1st mouse turns on and off whenever it feels like it (microsoft intellimouse 5button)
2nd mouse same thing (intellimouse v4.0)
3rd mouse totally dead (intellimouse v1.1)
4th mouse just died - totally off (generic laptop mouse)

PSU troubles? running a topower 480w, shouldnt be an issue?

 
Hmmm... any issues with any other USB devices or ports? My first guess would be some kind of short or grounding issue with the port(s).
 
With the microsoft Intellimouse, they have a tendency to stop working as they have relatively weak wires inside the cord. The generic laptop mouse might just be a coincidence on top of that.

Try a generic wireless mouse for a while and see if it dies. Then you'll know for sure.
