so much excitement over batteries!

Does anyone have 12 x 1800mAH AA and 4 x AAA that they'd be willing to ship at cost? I'm in Seattle.

Please pm me if you are interested in selling some.

Thanks,
Aaron

[Edit: nevermind, I just ended up ordering them. If anyone wants to buy 12 AA from me, let me know.]

Did anyone by chance pick up some 9v Ni-mh and a vanson speedy charger? I'm wondering because I've had the 9v charging for the past 40 hrs and it never lights up green. The charger works though because I've used it with other sizes.

You are correct. It is supposed to turn green. Test the 9V.

I am editing this to clairify. The lights go from red to green on the four slots for the AAA, AA, C, and D when fully charged. The light for the 9V is red when it is put in the charger, and goes out entirely when charged. There is no green light for the 9V charger connections.

And now a question. I ordered a pack of 1800 mAh AA batteries and an Olympus BU-50SU charger. I noticed that the charger is rated at 1700mAh though.

Do I need to worry about charging 1800mAh batteries in a charger that is rated for 1700mAh?

Thanks for suggestions,
Aaron

Any explanation as to why? :)

I found the following that seems to indicate that the lower the rating of the charger, the less the batteries will get charged, depending on the charge method:

from AllTekPower.com

Question / Issue:
Do some chargers have a charging limit for the mA they can charge or handle or can all Nimh chargers handle any mAh rating?

Answer / Solution:
Some chargers do have a limit on how much they will charge. This is true with many timed chargers. For example if a charger charges at the rate of 220 mA and charges for 7 hours then automatcally shuts off, it will only deliver 1540 mA. So you wouldn't want to charge 1600 mAh batteries with this charger since your batteries would not receive a full and complete charge. However if you were to select a smart charger, then you could basically charge any capacity of battery the charger was designed to fit. Most "smart chargers" are designed to switch to trickle mode once it detects that your batteries have been fully charged.

If it does matter, can anyone recommend a good 1800mAh charger that takes < 2-3 hrs to charge?

I'd like 12 AAs for those of you that would like to sell em. Also, USPS Priority shipping is preferred.

Thanks

Does anyone have any experience with C/D cell Nimh rechargeables? I've got these baby swings that just gobble up D's...but the D's are sooo expensive :( ($10 each!!)

Even at $10, can't afford not to get the D"s myself, have a radio that holds 6 that eats them fast. Over the life of these batteries you save hundreds of dollars. These new 8000mAh ones are powerful enough to make them worthwhile to get.

i must say that im never buying rayovac again. ive been using a lot of their alkaline rechargeables for the past year or so with 2 of their chargers, and they all suck. i have about 12 or so AA and AAA's and i use them all the time from my cordless mouse/keyboard to walkmans, to digital cameras, shavers, games, etc and they are the lowest of all the brands i have- kodak batteries, sanyo, lenmar and even duracell. the rayovacs seem to last the least, ive tossed maybe 2 or 3 due to acid leakage (just slightly around one of the ends), and ive had to mod the alkaline recharger to accept some of my other batteries because the contacts dont quite touch.

im not saying theyre awful, i mean if theyre all thats really available to you theyre still better than buying non-rechargeables, but out of the ones ive tried theyre the worst.

I agree with you on the alkaline rayovac batteries, they suck, I have only been able to recharge them a few times before they leak. On the other hand though I have the one hour charger from them with the BYD batteries a it works like a charm.
