Killer MIC Network Adapter Card

Not actually planning on buying this or anything, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the thing. Does it actually do anything? Especially with my Q6600 @ 3.4GHz, I don't think I would see any performance increases, but as a major WoW player I'm kind of curious.

Anyone own one?

I think the only thing special with it is that it has some fancy QoS stuff. So if you run say lots of torrents or filesharing activity while you play online games, this network card could give you slightly better pings by prioritizing traffic.

And yeah it supposedly offloads the load from the CPU, most games aren't CPU limited so I doubt it makes any discernible difference.

Conclusion, use the extra $100 or whatever to upgrade your graphics card(s), it will give you a lot more benefit.

Save your money and buy monster cables, a license for a copy of a memory defragmenter program and some cell phone antennae boosters.

The only thing I could think of that this would be useful for (and I'm not even sure it actually supports it, I just remember reading something about a possible feature way back before the card debuted) would be to use it to artificially inflate your ping to better simulate gameplay on less than ideal servers, or simply to acclimate yourself to a set ping (ie the ping will go no higher nor fluctuate much unless you join a really bad server).

That would be useful for DoTA, where its all about perfect timing in an imperfect world of pings. Of course, I refused to play leagues and hosted every game I played so it wasn't a problem for me.

If you have everything else, I mean everything.... T3 line, i7, fastest video cards x3, dual 52 inch LCD monitors, etc. It might be an answer for you.
