The hog was killed in Texas very recently close to where they hunt. The man in the picture killed him, took 3 shots from a 7 mag. The afternoon before, he saw this hog eating on the side of the road. He pulled over, and when he slammed the door on his truck, the hog spooked, and charged him. He rammed the side of his truck and put a huge dent in it and popped 2 holes in the metal where his tusks hit. He went back in camo the next morning and sat by a fence. The hog came out and he shot once and the hog turned and looked at him. Shot him again and he went to his knees and got back up. Shot him the third time and put him down. The rest of the story is the picture. Weighed over 800 lbs.

Check out the size of this hog.

I came into this thread wholly expecting to see a pic of a really sweet Harley.

Looked at the picture.. which is which?

If he hadn't messed with the thing in the first place, he wouldn't have had to kill it. People (rednecks) like that make no sense to me. You can go to the store and buy meat, just about any type of meat. So why run around in camo killing deer or birds, or in this case, a hog he shouldn't have bugged in the first place. I'm glad Billy Joe Bob is proud of himself and all, just seems kinda senseless to me. Unless the hog eating on the side of the road threatened him in some way before he slammed his door and scared the thing.

Is hunting some sort of way for people who simply wanna kill, to do so? Is it a rush, killing something, or what? I'm not meaning to flame hunters or something, I'm really just curious as to why people kill things for sport or not out of nessecity.

Nothing like wild pig meat. It has a much better flavor than your traditional supermarket meat! Yummy!

Venison tastes so much better than anything you could get in a store.

That thing is HUGE and those hogs can be VERY mean indeed. I'm not sure why he had to go back and kill this one either but I hope he at least had a tag for this thing (maybe they don't need one in Texas like in California). I am against the needless killing of animals too but I'm not against hunting. I'm for regulated hunting. Do you realize that if peopel didn't hunt deer in the midwest, for example, those things would probably take over, setup shop, and kick out all the humans? We need hunters to control the population, and most hunters do eat the meat they take, venison is very tasty and is much cheaper than a lot of steaks. That being said I wish this hog could have been left alone, big old animals like that deserve to live out their lives, heck they made it that far.

Look at this guy, look at that outfit. Seriously, what is the point of even living if you leave the house/trailer/tent like that? Do humanity a favor and lay down on some train tracks.

Feral hogs are very destructive to the environment. Along with feral "domestic" cats, they have to be eliminated.

And--My god! :Q That is one huge piggy! Would it be tasty or too gamey and tough?

It's FFMcobalt, the guy who doesn't wash his car, comb his hair, or think looks count for anything at all.

I know whatcha mean. Population control and all.. and yes, venison is yummy. :p A guilty pleasure I guess, hehe. Pictures like that just tick me off - he looked so proud of shooting something that was no immeadiate danger to him at the time, but was the day before cause he provoked it. That's like the equivalent of me punching a guy in the face and then getting the crap beaten out of me. The next day, I go to his house and shoot him cause he beat me up.

If he was killing it for food, I'd be more compassionate I guess. There are some things you hunt that can't be found in a store. However, this guy killed the animal for.. well, I don't know why. Some sort of false sense of security. The animals can be dangerous, but they're usually a LOT less so when you don't scare or provoke them :)

No, thankfully. Texas offends my sense of human dignity.

I guess you've never met women from Texas and that warm, wet southern hospitality.:D

No, but OTOH I prefer my "hospitality" without the livestock and wood alcohol.
