Still would be no "confusion" or "mistake" over what you pulled out, his gun was not being used as a flashlight

And again, I never said it was a mistake or confusion on his part. He may have been claiming that but I don't believe it. If his gun had a light he was likely using it inappropriately.

You said his gun was not being used as a flashlight. Is there anything other than his word it wasn't? His word isn't worth shit to me and he would lie about violating department policy IMO.

I just reread the link and it says accident. Not mistake, not confusion. Dari is the only one to say that.

So you have baseless speculation that he could have had a light attached to his gun and an assumption that he was lying about having his gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other...he done admitted to fucking up, which is painfully obvious, but let's just see how bad we can make it?

He's be charged with criminally negligent homicide (manslaughter) and assault.

http://news.yahoo.com/nypd-officer-due-court-stairwell-shooting-064402330.html

Based on the following it appears that Gurley was struck by a ricocheting round vs intentionally being shot.

I suspect the officer will be convicted of manslaughter.

Ricochet or not, he fired at an innocent American and killed him. Him missing doesn't matter. Just means he is a poor shot. The shot was still intentional, the ricocheting stuff is a red herring.

I do believe the officer claims that he accidentally fired his weapon. If true, the ricochet could aid his defense. The outcome will be determined by how well either side presents their case. As I stated earlier I suspect he will be convicted of manslaughter due to not properly securing/carrying his weapon..

Alright, lets go back to the start. A poster couldn't understand how a gun could be mistaken for a flashlight. I explained how it could have been used as one. Simple as that. Is it speculation? Sure, just as your claim it wasn't is. All this other BS about the cop lying or not, I thought there was some basis for Dari claiming he grabbed it by accident or there was confusion over what he grabbed and then you repeated it. Turns out the guy isn't claiming that in the story we have been given.

Alright, new link says he had a separate flashlight. So much for that.

No.

Reports so far indicate the shot was unintentional. So no, he didn't "fire at someone". It was an accidental discharge, or at least so claimed.

Haha. Yeah. That is what I meant. He took his gun instead of his flashlight. His partner probably took out his flashlight. If you've seen the belt of a NYPD officer they have a flashlight there. Why on earth Liang would take out a gun boggles the mind. It never should've happened. He's an idiot and should pay with a couple of years in jail and prison rape.

He never should've taken the gun out of the holster unless it was warranted. Would you take out your gun if you were going down a dark stairwell and were not in pursuit or being pursued? This isn't The Walking Dead.

Rail mounted flashlights are a very popular accessory for guns. They mount under the barrel and are extremely bright. If I was a LEO I would want one.

bwahahhahahhahahha

Rail mounted flashlights are a toy at best. I bought one to play with and its lived in my gun safe ever since. The main issue is that you can't use any holster with them. Also; they fall off. A carry gun gets bounced around, knocked into, sat on, squished by seat belts, all kinds of abuse. The last thing I want is to focus on my light falling off when I pull my gun. And finally if a cop is using one of those as a flashlight, he should be fired and never allowed to carry a gun again. The most basic rule of firearm safety is you never point your gun at something you don't want to kill. Those flashlights only point where you gun is aimed, so by default you would be pointing it at anything you want to see and not what you want to kill.

Please tell me why you would want one if you were a LEO.

Two things:

1. This goes back to training. Apparently he was a poorly trained rookie.

2. The apartment building they were was, IIRC, supposed to be gang infested. IDK what their procedure is, but if I'm expecting to run into armed gang members in the dark stairs I'm inclined to have my gun in hand, not holstered. Quick draw contests are for movies, not real life.

As I said earlier, the intention is to blind your target and illuminate. They are plenty bright (or at least the Surefire is) and if falling off is an issue this is the first I've heard of it. A quick search found a dozen different holsters on ebay. You called them a toy and said yours fell off. Maybe it is a toy. Good ones are spendy. What is the make model you have?

A quick Google found an article about their accidents as well as their wide use in LE and the military. http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_2...s-linked-accidental-shootings?source=infinite

I thought you said you didn't reply to anyone with less than three years join date?

You already admitted he wasn't using a rail mounted light.

My point was that you said if you were a LEO you would have one and I asked why. Thank you for admitting you have no real world knowledge of what you are talking about.

Your real world knowledge seems to come from a light that is either too cheap to stay on or you're not installing it right. . Be that as it may, professionals with much more real world knowledge than you choose to have them on their weapons and I'll take their experience and opinions over yours any day.

The only question you asked is why I would want one as a LEO and I answered it (for the second time in this thread no less). Do I actually need to highlight it for you? Better yet, forget it. Leave me on whatever list you want. If you never reply to me again my days would be better for it.
