Killed the Mac

I was installing Mac OS X on a mac and I think I killed it. After it was done and wanted to restart when it booted up again nothing ever comes up on the monitor. Just goes from green to yellow constantly.

What could be wrong please? Thanks.

Well, you have your own light show now.
I don't know what's wrong though. Maybe reset the BIOS or whatever it's called on a Mac?

I don't know. I've never worked with a Mac. Just suggesting here.

It was a G3 and had Mac OS 8.5.1 on it before.

Its ok though because we got the mac for free

I've never worked on a mac either...

Is there a jumper anywhere near the battery that looks like it might be a CMOS type jumper?

Not sure. Will have to look. How will that fix the problem? Just asking.

You might've just screwed up the BIOS settings with the OS. Sometimes it happens with PCs, don't know about Macs. They're completely different beasts.

WooooooooooooHoooooooooooo just fixed it somehow! Not exactly sure what it did but it somehow fixed it! Wooooooooooohooooooooooooo!!

I held down cmd-options-p-o and the screen came up on the monitor! Then it finished what it had to do and Mac OS X came up!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god I thought I killed this mac forever. What a fun ride last night and today!

Though thank you 4Dogmom whoever you are because you said all the commands that can be used when something like this happens sorta. So I said what the heck and tried them! The 2nd one worked!

I love how being able to fix a problem by a old topic! It happens all the time! Thats the best thing about the internet! The Forums!

Yes but it doesn't always work but I would say most of the time it does.
