Kill

afaik you can only be logged in to one place at a time, otherwise you will get a message saying you are on twice.

I'm pretty sure you can be on your SN in more than one location. The active location take priority over the other location.

Depends, sometimes you get 2 IMs at both computers, sometimes only 1. I havent figured out the rule yet, but it might be if you have 1 as an active window on 1 computer, then it takes priority. I'm on my laptop and desktop a lot (Esp if I decide to migrate to the living room with my laptop)

Yeah...though I have been logged in in two places at once before and a message goes to each system logged in. It was quite weird to come home and look at my computer and be like "WTF someone was using my computer" and realize it was a conversation I was having before, though this usually occurs when I use Mobile IM on my phone when I was signed in on my computer.

what you said contradicts. You will get a message, but you will still be logged in on more than one location.

You cannot disable this feature. I think it was done for people who login using their phone. so when you log off it doesn't kick you off the other connection.

If you log in, and you get a message saying that you are logged in on two locations, you should be able to reply with the number 1 and it will log off the other location.

I'm not making a statement, I'm just sharing what I know - when I log into another place I get a popup window that says press 1 to logoff other location or press 2 to logoff this location.
