I'm ... *gasp* ... using WinME! :Q

So far everything is ok though. Too bad it's 9x based. My only major gripes with it are long installation time and bloatier than 9x, and still full of bugs/memory leakage. Good thing is it boots fast, though.

Gonna install 2K back (but set up as dualboot) in a min.

But so far my sound hasn't messed up, I need to test it more thoroughly. I can change resources in WinME at least. :D

Gonna install 2K with "Standard PC" in hopes that I can also change resources there.

lmao. Once I get IE6 on here it should be *OK*.

I know, 98SE is "better". I tried... my key was fux0r3d. So out of curiosity I tried ME again. And it's working very well, for the first time ever. I'm very surprised. My sound is working.. oh god oh god... ok, time to try Win2K in Standard PC.

See ya on the flipside...

Ok this sucks. I have 2k installed now, using "Standard PC" instead of ACPI PC, and I still can not change resources, and my sound STILL crackles! WTF! I tried default drivers as well as the same drivers I'm using in WinME. But in WinME, my sound doesn't crackle!! Damn this pisses me off.

Damn Creative's bad 2k drivers :|

Get a T.B. Santa Cruz

Mine works great on ME/XP Pro/2000 Pro

Tri booting and it's rock solid on all three

When I have some extra cash I'm definitely getting a Santa Cruz. Perhaps a GF based video card as well.

It boots fast because it's a clean install. I too prefer 98SE over WinME.

I killed that WinME setup already. I have since freshly installed 98 F-E and it works O.K. I may get 98SE over it later. Installing Stealth III S540 drivers seemed to OBLITERATE the WinME install. Heh... But yeah, about the booting - it always boots fast. It's NOT because it's a fresh install. Take a fresh install of 95, 98, 98SE or Win2K Pro, and WinME will beat it, fresh or not, for booting. For all other intents and purposes though, it does pretty much suck. It's more resource hogging than 98x, and there are no real advantages. It has good driver support, so that's alright. But I'd take XP over ME, and I'd take 2K over XP, and I avoid 9x unless I have to use it. :)
