Red Squirrel

No Lifer
Just noticed this today.

I've seen pictures of bigger ones in exotic places and all that, but this is RIGHT THERE IN REAL LIFE! Never seen a spider this big before.

Ironicly that light bulb burnt a few days ago. It's a trap!

Doesn't look too bad to me. I would hate to hear some guy named Red Squirrel died in a fire over a small arachnid.

i cant be sure form pic, but it looks like a small wolf spider - i killed 2 in front of my house this week, each one was about 1.25" long (bodies) with about 100 little baby spiders on their butts. (made sure to kill all the babies too)

Moar pics! Mission accomplished.

Actually spiders alone don't really scare me, but I have a phobia of spider webs, so the bigger the spider, the more I know it's capable of.

One of the most dangerous American spiders is a brown recluse, and they are not very big at all. And while we are at it, beware of the wood tick, their bite is painless, but they can carry some really nasty diseases.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about those exotic spiders here or any other bugs that are dangerous. They just look scary, but they're harmless, and I know that in reality my phobia of spider webs is just that, a phobia, I cannot actually be in danger from spiders. It's all in the head.

found on my boat cover, not much smaller than a 9" paper plate. He jumped about 2' towards me right after I took the picture.
