Ahhh.. yea it does, its free money for the most part.... did you even read the link?

"By splitting "Kill Bill" into two parts, Tarantino and Miramax gambled that audiences would be willing to pay twice the ticket price to catch both chapters.

The risk paid off nicely. The two movies cost a total of $60 million to produce, and "Kill Bill - Vol. 1" alone has grossed $180 million worldwide, with the movie's video release last week selling 2 million copies in its first day, padding revenues by about $40 million more.

"It was a terrific decision financially," Sands said. "

That's still a pretty unimpressive opening weekend for a #1 film. I liked KB2 quite a bit, though, and I will likely end up seeing it again in the theater . . .

I have not seen either Kill Bill 2 nor punisher as of yet. I have free access to the preview at a local theater and missed it. So now I must wait until I am back in town to see them because i am too cheap to pay for it were I am at right now.

Either way I wish two good movies didn't have to compete over viewers.

i'm glad to see that a movie like this can be successful on a more-or-less mainstream level. although i'm sure miramax is filled with plenty of money-grubbing bigwigs just like the others, i have to applaud them for taking a lot more risks on lesser know directors and new ideas than the other big studios. if i was a director, i'd want to release under them.

What's up with the Punisher suddenly needing to have friends and stuff? Sounds like they had a look at the first movie and decided that he had to be a lot more like a 'Hollywood hero'...
