My little guy has an ear infection:( We spent the better part of the early morning hours at the hospital and doctor's office and were sent home with the usual antibiotics and tylenol prescription.

Any other suggestions or remedies you guys or gals have used? It absolutely breaks my heart seeing him like this:(:(:(

Well, warm urine is supposed to help. Seriously. Something about the chemicals in the urine help. Some old time cure. Wouldnt try it on my kid though....but you, well let us know.:p

Best thing is to give them the meds, and get their attention elsewhere. Got DVDs?

Ear tubes. My son was plagued with ear infections the first year. His Pediatrician recommended we have tubes put in and we did. He was close to one year old when we had the surgery at Children's Hospital in San Diego (great place BTW-Excellent staff) and I think he might have had one ear infection after that but it was very mild.

He isnt interested in his usual long list of DVD's:( Lately, I have easily been able to divert his attention away from anything with his Vsmile game system, but that isnt working either:(

I just want him to feel better

Yeah, that's probably not a good idea. Putting urine your kid's ear my get you a visit from a Child Protection Agency. Seriously, I used to get them a lot when I was a kid and my son had them so bad he got tubes, but that was a nightmare as well.
The antibiotics should kick in around 24 hours after the first dose. Maybe tomorrow night will be easier. If you can lay his ear on something warm, like a heating pad, it may help.

Mine had tubes placed as well. After a quick afternoon procedure the little guy hasn't had an ear infection since.

That's what the doctor prescribed, the yummy Amoxicillin. I remember having it when I was young too.

I had ear infections all the time when I was a kid. I had tubes put in my ears at one point and everything. I can tell you from experience, the pink medicine I think you are referring to is Ceclore (pronounced See-Klore). It is easily the greatest Rx of all time as far as taste is concerned.

same with my youngest daughter. the tubes are like a miracle
she had to get them twice, but it is the best thing to do. she is six and the last one was just removed, without them, it was chronic ear infections, one after the other

get the tubes!

Words of warning: My son had to have three surgeries because of tubes. One to put them in, two to patch the holes they caused (second surgery only worked on one ear). The third surgery they actually had to make an incision behind his ear and cut a piece of membrane to patch over the hole he still had in one ear. The ENT said my son's case was really rare and he hadn't seen anyone go through that many problems with tubes.

Urine will do nothing, as these infections are internal and not something you can get at from the outside with urine.

Skoorbaby, at eight months, has had one. We got her the meds and hope she doesn't have any more. The doctor said most kids just have one and that's it, though chronic are usually dealt with by tubes, as everybody else said, and as I'm sure the OP knows :)
