Kids today...

I wore payless shoes until i was in 8th grade and even then I had some junky reeboks that were white and turqoise or something like that.

Does anyone else find it ridiculous that children today are demanding high fashion when they are too young for it to even matter?

From Club Comic View:
"I took my daughter to buy shoes today, we stopped in front of the Payless Shoe Source and you know what she said?"

"Payless shoes ain't got no grip, make you fall and bust yo lip"

Sound off, 1,2, Sound off 3,4

I wore shoes from like Ross...which are at least name brand. When I got to hs I remember getting a pair of Nike's my cousin had bought a few months before. Damned shoes werel like $100 but I kept them for 4 years. (I had multiple pairs of shoes so they didn't get torn up for quite a while).

no sh!t, they'd rather have you spent all your money on fashion than have decent school supplies

The day my kids try to dictate what brands they will wear will be the day they start spending their own money on shoes/clothes. And they know it, too.

Sorry, I spent all my money on computer parts than buying expensive name-brand shoes and clothes. The most I'll ever spend on regular shoes is $50 and that's pushing it.

The shoe thing is not new. 35 years ago my kid wouldn't wear any shoes that didn't cost twice as much as the ones I wore.

He was very brand conscious--- meant nothing to me.

lol...

I just go for basketball shoes at Sears or Mervyns (Running shoes is bad for basketball lol)

Still, they aren't as cheap as the $2 t-shirts I got at Chinatown 😀

I don't think people need all these shoes. I remember one time I went with my girlfriend (at the time) and she went right to one section and grabbed a distinct brand out that were insanely expensive. I was like "Don't you want to look at any other types?" She's said "no". It turns out she wanted those only because they were they same style as a pair her friend had. I was thinking "Oh brother". I think any shoe is alright. Although, I probably wouln't be caught dead in velcro shoes. I  new balance. 🙂

Unfortunately, middle school is one of the short periods in life when fashion does matter.

actually the period is a little longer than that,

generally middle school until retirment. :Q

Why do you think guys like golf so much? It's a break from being forced to dress well.

I have no problem wearing payless shoes. And I'm a shopaholic.

Occasionally they have some very cute shoes. I bought 2 pairs of flats (one pink plaid and the other black) for only $17 total a few months ago.

I hated Payless in elementary school, because at all 3 of my schools, we've always been in the lower or lowest class of the population and it kinda sucked because back when Nikes were the coolest from 2nd-5th grade I only had one pair, and when I made it last for 2 years I got made fun of. It's a lose-lose situation.

Edit: I would say change it to OVER 16. At 16 you can get a job and you start paying for your own sh1t, so you don't care as much anymore.

Heh, my parents would pay for my shoes up to $40. If I wanted anything more expensive, I had to pay the rest....Which I did for when I was playing basketball in Jr. High and High School.

Payless used to have pretty decent shoes, until they went to 4" platforms on every damn pair of women's shoes.

Why the hell would they think someone with size 12 feet would want twice as much shoe?

if they are too good for payless shoes, take them to goodwill for their shoes and stick it to the little bastards with a nice pair of used shlt shoes. they'll be glad for payless after a couple weeks in some g.w. shoes
