kids in day care are so messed up

my friend works in a day care, she was telling me some horror stories today that she thinks are run-of-the-mill.

todays highlight? a kid who found toilet paper IN THE TOILET... AND TOOK IT OUT AND ATE IT. that someone had wiped with. because she likes to eat paper.

kids assault each other, they destroy property, they smear feces on stuff.

i would not be able to handle 1 day there without getting arrested.

how old exactly? The 2-3-4 year olds at our school are perfectly fine. Parents take turns participating everyday and we see nothing out of the ordinary. The wildest they get is after they are let out to go home with parents they want to run around the front yard for 10 minutes with their friends... no big deal.

Everything I hear about daycare sounds like a nightmare, not just stuff like that, but all the logistics around trying to get the kids there and getting to work on time, having to go pick them up if they cough even once, etc.. If I was married with kids I'd just tell the wife to quit work to stay at home with them. Probably better for the kids anyway. Sure the dual income is nice but daycare is freaking expensive anyway, most of the paycheck goes towards it.

Though even better, stay single, and no kids. 😛 That's how I like it.

Maybe your friend should spend a little more time watching or *gasp* teaching the kids instead of letting them run wild. You know, they're one of the adults in charge being paid to care for the children. The best behaved two year old with the best parents in the world can do something really fucking stupid in a heartbeat of someone is doing a shitty job of watching them. Having pulled my kid from a shit-hole daycare there is a WORLD of difference when the people watching your kid for 6-8 hours give a shit about what they're doing.

Most of these places treat the kids like a fucking money factory and stuff as many of them as they can without hiring nearly enough people to care for the kids.

Wow. That's pretty bad. That kind of stuff doesn't go on my kids daycare, at least not to my knowledge. They do have to deal with the normal kid stuff though. You know, boys wrestling, throwing stuff at each other, etc.

the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I bet the parents are nuts.

When people today become parents, they go through a metamorphosis. It triggers a reaction in the brain which erases all memories of their childhood, and how they were like when they were little. It also reduces intelligence by about 50 points and causes them to develop antisocial personality disorder. I suspect it also dulls the senses.

The symptom list of antisocial personality disorder is present in every parent of a screaming child spotted in grocery stores, restaurants, and airplanes.
Callous unconcern for the feelings of others;
Gross and persistent attitude of irresponsibility and disregard for social norms, rules, and obligations;
Incapacity to maintain enduring relationships, though having no difficulty in establishing them;
Very low tolerance to frustration and a low threshold for discharge of aggression, including violence;
Incapacity to experience guilt or to profit from experience, particularly punishment;
Marked readiness to blame others or to offer plausible rationalizations for the behavior that has brought the person into conflict with society.

So the daycare (on a military installation) we use is pretty damn good. However, I went to one parent involvement meeting and left within about 20 minutes. While the daycare is damn good. The parents are a bunch of self absorbed pricks.

During the 20 minutes I was there, a father started complaining that the teachers did not inform him that his 2 year old had to be changed that day and that there were wet clothes(in a plastic bag) in his backpack. He said that he doesn't know what his kids wear every day to school so he needed the teachers to tell him if they had to change his child. Otherwise, he risks ruining the clothes as they sit in the backback for days.

Other parents complained that their children were ruining clothes by getting food all over them. How could the daycare prevent that?

I was just like WTF. Go check you damn kids bag daily when you pick them up, and get over yourself about having stains on your children's clothes for fucks sake.

There is a reason why the daycare likes my wife and I. If we have a suggetion or complain, it is legitimate as we don't bitch about things that we fix ourselves. Our son is well behaved and doesn't get in trouble. And we don't send him to school sick unlike most of the other idiot parents that send their kid to school only to have to return 2 hour later because their kid is running a 102 degree fever.

But we don't have anything like the OPs scenario. The daycare keeps the ratio really low so kids get a lot of attention and aren't unsupervised.

Stop going to daycares in the ghetto. Go North a little bit and you'll find the two year olds with a pacifier in one hand and a computer mouse in the other.

Well that's gross.

Kids turn out like there parents. Do what I say not what I do is what ruins a lot of kids chancing at being decent human beings when their parented by jackholes.

Onus remains on parents to be decent human beings and better if they have to once they decide to have kids. Plenty of gubment sponsered excuses for any shit parents.

Makes sense, I bet those parents were hopped up on ADD and other drugs give birth to kids who are defective already from the effects of all these psychtropic drugs in the mothers bloodstream entering the fetus.

So you end up with halfwits running amok on daycare, who then have to take pills as well to be normal. Find some other place.
