Kids' choice vs. my dignity

I don't see how a new Camaro would be a mark against your dignity :|

Eh? Only old people drive Camaros...so it would match perfectly.
OP you crazy.

Say what? I see more younger/middle aged people driving Camaros than old people. I'm 23 and have a 4th gen Camaro 😕

I'd go for a used G8 GXP. Faster then a BMW 550 and Benz E550.

That would be sweet right there. More "dignified" than a Camaro I suppose, but certainly a sweet performance sedan

If I could have bought it new that certainly would have been towards the top of our list. Currently it is a G37 with the sports package.

I understand the man of the house wants to make his family happy, and I totally respect that.
But you need to think of the fact the kids are just bugging you for something they think is cute and they will totally forget about it 3 months later. Then you're stuck with a car you hate.
Do they practical thing. One way or another they'll get over it.

Really. For a 4 & 6 year old - you can humor their opinion about a car and pretend to take it seriously. And then make it clear this is your choice. MAYBE if you were really were 50/50 on a Mustang / Camaro, you could decide to let them sway you. I can't imagine you are seriously considering their opinion in your decision?

Also, don't worry what your co-workers would think. Get what you want. Really, there is nothing wrong with a Camaro if you enjoy it, and I doubt anyone would look down on you other than thinking you are young at heart.

Uh... all that being said - when I sat in one at a car show I had instant claustrophobia. It was terrible.

If it were me, well - I'd get a used car. But even if new - I'd get a BMW 328.

Will the kids be riding in the car often? For me, if you're going to have passengers (especially little ones) in the back seat regularly, four doors would be a requirement. My fiancé and I have a 6 year old, and I've never want a coupe as my DD.

The kids would be my top priority. That doesn't mean you have to go out and get a soccer-mom-mobile, but I would at least get something semi-roomy, comfortable, and with good visibility and crash ratings. I wouldn't get a Camaro, even if that's what the kids want (after all, the novelty will wear off soon enough, when the new Transformers movies - and toys - are no longer the "cool thing.")

G7 Sedan, G8 GT / GXP, or Cadillac CTS (3.6L?) would be at the top of my list. A Charger wouldn't be a bad choice either, but man, I can't stand the way they look.
