went into effect? also I read another report that recommends keeping your kids in the back seat until they are old enough to drive themselves....

I remember growing up we were always in the front seat.

Oh ok, I think they are trying to make it a law though. I know now it is 8 years or 4ft 9" for a booster seat that is a law I believe, don't even think I had one of those as a kid.

OMG TEH GUBBERMENT INTERVENTION...FREEDOM!!!.....NANNY STATE....HELMETS!!....etc

Just thought I'd post this before we get a real one...

I hadn't heard of it either, outside of being an optional recommendation by auto manufacturers. Then again, my car is too old to have airbags....or shoulder straps for the rear seatbelts....

I don't think my 20 yr old daughter would like it if she had to use a booster seat. She's right around 4'9". 😛

When I was a kid, it was age 12 in austria. never heard of anything like that in north america though.

Pre-1980s, I sat in the front of my dad's Pontiac Firebird when I was a baby. No car seat regulations back then. I came out perfectly fi... oh wait.

Pre 1984ish, I used to ride in the back window area in my mom's Plymouth Fury III ( I think it was a III).

Never thought anything about it and neither did my folks. A bad accident would have landed us right on the back of their heads though.

Pics of the pixie or ban. 🙂

In my state, if your kid weight is 80 lbs or if they are 8 yo, then they don't need a booster.
They must wear a seatbelt!

There is no law about kids sitting up front.

Damn.. I got 3 more years till I can buy a S2000 🙁 Maybe I can put her in the trunk.. will someone verify that a 5 year old can fit in a S2000 trunk?
