Kids being honest at the most inconvinent times

SAWYER

Lifer
Last night we went to a Chinese buffet for dinner and a family sits down at a table next to us. The waitress comes over and asks "How old tah kwids warr? The mom says 4 and 2, the oldest kid says "No I'm not mommy, I am six!" The mom of course says shutup and turns red-faced. At this place kids 4 and under eat free.

6 year old teaching parents a lesson in class and honesty - priceless

Eating at a Chinese buffet and lessons in class in the same post...amazing.

hah, i think i did that to my parents once. I think i was juuust over the age threshold but damn it the world had to know that I was no longer 5!

Bah, we always tell them their actual ages; when it's close, sometime the waiter will wink and give us the discount anyway.

Saving a few bucks is not worth our kids thinking we are hypocrites for demanding honesty from them, but not showing it everyday.

*cue the whiner brigade and their "ATOT is the bastion of faux morality*

Parents raise kids with inconsistant messages.
The honesty thing is one of them. Especially when it relates to tattle-tails.
(tattle-tales?)

Ya, it is kind of funny how honest kids are and how much we raise them to be dishonest. I am guilty of that kind of thing too, but just in my own way. *shrug*

That happens in my ski lessons sometimes. When I teach the younger ones (4-6) I sometimes get a 7 year old. The younger class has a 3:1 student to teacher ratio, while the older kids can be as much as 12:1, usually around 9:1.

That is a scumbag maneuver on the parents' part, and a terrible example for the kids. I'm always worried that places will think we are lying about my daughter's age. She's only 3 but really tall for her age - she towers over many 4-year olds and some 5-year olds.

My daughter did that to me when she had very recently turned three. Kids two and under at the aquarium were free, and she insisted to the lady that she was three. I sheepishly paid her ticket and slunk away.
