so i saw a kid porn conviction thread in P&N and was wondering...what happens if some asshat compromises your PC, loads it up with kid porn or other illegal content and you get busted by TSA or something? wouldn't it be pretty hard to prove you didn't download it or weren't aware of it?
 
surely there is some ability to trace the origination of the content from an ip/mac that was not the owners...no?

yeap it would be very hard if the person doing it knows what htey are doing.

in that case its best to have a good lawyer and lots of money. or do what i do and do not download it.
 
if someone really wants to hack ur pc they can, and will

i know through personal experience

your best bet is to keep a low profile on the net

download what? i'm saying if a completely innocent person was hacked by an asshole who put a bunch of crap on their system. then by chance, they were investigated by a TSA or something similar by SOP.
 
It's illegal to posses it. You posses it. Doesn't matter how it got there.

Same as if a bunch of pot is growing on your property, you're still guilty.

not true. pot growes wild in some areas. if its growing wild (they can tell in soem case's) they will just pull it out and thats it.

remember a case where a guy had like 300 acres of wooded property. the cops found a bunch of bushes growing in part of it. the said he had no clue it was there. they pulled it out and burned it.

he was not arrested.

 
There's always the file creation date too. You just tell them that you were out returning video tapes at the time.
