Themes? We are seriously comparing themes? Ugh.

I HATE computer users who dick around with that crap. I hate them with a passion. Every time I see an Android phone with italics or some script font I want to punch the owner in the face. If emptying your recycle bin makes some goofy sound OTHER than the default shuffling or bing sound, I want you to suffer a debilitating physical injury that you will carry for the rest of your life.

What a waste of time! Almost invariably the customizations break formatting and impair readability or other forms of usability. Just seeing the edges of letters cut off in a dialogue should be enough for them to realize that it wasn't worth it. They never do.

Also, when Windows Vista came out, low-end systems came with as little as 1GB of RAM, with 2GB being the norm. This was fine for XP, but didn't really work with Vista (or 7, 8 or 10). When Windows 7 was released, 4GB of RAM or more was much more common.

Windows Vista + SP2 + decent drivers + 4GB of RAM = Windows 7.

Yeah, the old Q9650 with a slight OC on it my wife still likes using with Vista x64.

I managed to grab a few sticks of these for it way back when, they sold for a short time.

Like maybe one week, probably less.

Was one of my old gaming rigs.

Mojave was targeted and it was biased to exclude some individuals that still hated the Vista/Mojave thing after they tried it. This test was also run on some pretty good hardware at the time. MS isn't that stupid, they just wanted to demonstrate a point and they only needed a few that fell for it to show that point. We could do similar with just about anything and if the target group is large enough, you will still find people that still hate the very thing you are trying to prove isn't hatable. However the people that actually worked with it, knew how to use it...etc, knew it was slower, had bugs, especially from Nvidia initially among other things...hell Dreamscene had a major bug for an entire year until it was fixed then they dropped half the features in W7 and continue to drop features in every iteration. WMC, Silverlight, Dreamscene..etc, etc.

What I have wanted MS to do for a long time was to produce some real software available for free download for users instead of the weak and old stuff that everyone replaces with 3rd parties. Like Notepad and Word is seriously outdone by open source alternatives. File Explorer needs some tabs...really it should function a bit more like a web browser except only for files. At least they did improve the search function for W10.
And Windows defender...wtf? It's really not even basic functionality, it fails all sorts of Malware tests.

Windows 8 had issues with its multiple personalities. It's wanted to be a tablet OS and a desktop OS at the same time.

Windows 10 is hampered by a Microsoft who's desperately trying to be Google. As an OS, it's a big improvement over its predecessor. What's bogging it down is some rather anti-consumer policies coming out of Redmond. I suspect Satya Nadella is behind a lot of this nonsense. I think they need to find themselves a new CEO.

Totally agree.

Usually, I stick with every new OS from Beta to release. That is... until Windows 8. Holy shit what a piece of crap OS for the mentally challenged. Sadly, my work laptop has it so I'm forced to use it.

On my home computer that I use the most, I am on Windows 10 and it is such a relief they abandoned the whole Windows 8 crap.

I like Windows 10. It seems to be pretty stable so far, and most of the new add-ons stay out of my way unless I want to use them.

I definitely like it better than Windows 8 (UI hell) or Windows Vista (driver hell), but I'm not feeling motivated enough to upgrade the rest of my Windows 7 systems yet.

Something tells me that I'll find myself being forced to upgrade soon enough.

Windows 8 is a pretty good tablet OS. I could just never see myself using it as a daily driver on a desktop or laptop. Switching between the two GUIs all the time seems like it would get real old real fast.

I really do want to like Windows 10, but Microsoft is making that very difficult.

What do you hate about 10 out of curiosity?

Most I can say I hate so far is privacy concerns, and there are some decent guides on how to disable the majority of it - or block them.

People really complain too much about metro in windows 8. You could avoid it with one click in windows 8.1 you could never see metro if you wanted.

I do agree using metro with a mouse was miserable.

Tried to use their video player last night. Glitchy, frustrating, nightmare...and horrible UI sins to boot.

I never use windows programs to begin with as far as media player / browser goes.

Regardless of OS, my first step is downloading VLC Player and Chrome.
