Kickers are not football players.

Helmet?: Check
Pads?: Check
Can score points?: Check
Sometimes has to make a tackle?: Check
Makes more money in 1 season than you make in 10 years?: Check
Hot wife/bitch?: Most probably, Check

All signs point to kickers actually being football players.
 
They are specialists. They contribute to the game offensively on the field, therefore they are football players.
 
Take any of the other players on the team and make them kick a 45 yard FG with 3 seconds left to win the game from behind.

They may not be as athletic as the rest of the team, but a lot of games have been won (and lost) because of them, so they're still :thumbsup:

Two 50+ field goals with 3 seconds left, after a jackass coach does the timeout before the FG to psych out the kicker - both made. Also, they're a pretty specialist group - the ability to get touch backs or put the ball right before the goal line with enough hang time so that your team mates can get down there to give the opposing team bad field position, or punters who can put the ball out of bounds around the 1-2 yard line ...
