Try this out:

1. Lay on the floor like you're going to do a push-up
2. Instead of using your hands, hold yourself up with your forearms.
3. Post how long you can hold the position until your abs become a firely gelatinous glob.

This is a tough ab workout that doesn't require any extra equipment. I can hold it for 34 seconds before they start burning too much. Post your times!

(BTW- If your stomach is on the floor while you're doing this, this exercise isn't going to work for you ;) ).

Nope, forarms flat on the floor, then hold your midsection up with your toes and your arms. It might be best to do this barefoot/in socks as it's a bit uncomfortable with shoes on.

I've done 2 minutes, but there has to be TV or something to distract me from the agony.

You have to have your elbows bent if you lay on your forearms. Are you crazy?

We do this for our warmup in karate class, it hurts a hell of a lot more if you place your forearms as close to your body as you can. (rather, I mean basically have your hands under your face as far as you can)

Incidently, try this, place your hands next to your body (pointing towards your feet) and try to lift your legs in the air so that you are in an angle with your face near floor and legs up... now that is an exercise (which I couldn't do if you paid me)

okay, your description of the position was a little confusing. Do you mean that you should be like this for this exercise?

Edit: Safeway has a better pic. No MSpaint skills for me.

This ain't that bad at all. I got to 1:30 and could've gone for another minute.

One that I really have trouble with is where you lift your legs 2 inches off the ground for as long as you can. I can only get 1:30 with that.

I would try all these, but the floor in the lab is disgusting. I don't think the cleaning crew has ever cleaned these floors.

buy a gallon jug of water. lift it above your head, slowly bend your elbow so the jug goes behind your head, lift, repeat.

we call it the "plank" position when i work out. We have a 30 minute abs workout and between each sit up or crunch or whatever, we do 1 minute of plank. This is the same for the lower back. You lay on your stomach and lift your arms and legs as high as you can and hold it and then go up and down about 10 times holding it up high each time. It sounds easier than it is :)

It sounds pretty dang hard if you really hold the arms and legs high...

I got to about 3:38 min and then I had to go pee. But I've had practice. During Kung Fu class, we have to do the bird. Which is you sit on your butt and lift up your legs as high as you can and you are suppose to hold it for 3 min. First time I tried that, I could only do 25 sec. Now I can do well over 5 min. I'll try to do longer later hopefully after I drained the one-eyed monster.

I wouldn't really recommend most of those.

Pushups- well, that's probably OK

Jumping Jacks- if you're in an office building, the people below you won't appriciate ceiling tiles coming down on their head.

Jogging in place- Same as above.

Pullups off door frame- We had someone do that a couple of years ago and pulled the trim right off the door frame, then put a nail into his shoulder. Ouch.
