Khypermedia 25 PK DVD-R $19.99 AR's

Starting Sunday Office Max has Khypermedia's 25 Pack DVD-R discs for $19.99 after a $23 IR and a $7 MIR. This is a 25 Pack spindle. The ad nor the website specify what speed but I would imagine that they are 2X. Hopefully anyone with any experience with these discs can post who the manufacturer actually is. This is a very good price if this is quality media.

Well, you're gonna have a bunch of people telling you they're crap, but I've used them for awhile now and never had a problem with even one disc.

Have been buying KH CDR for a long time and have been impressed. Had one batch that went shizzy though 🙁 The metal started to come off the CDs, doh. Lifetime warranty though so easily replacable.

You are quite lucky my friend. I have used about 10 of them in my universal TDK burner and I have only had about 50% success.. meaning I was only able to burn 5 successful discs out of 10, backing up 5 diff movies. So it may be that you will be paying $20AR for about 12 discs or so.

I've used 25 of these without any problems burning at 1x on a Sony 500. I still wouldn't recommend them, though. Was the first DVDs I bought and the quality isn't that great. Plenty of better brands out there for near the price.

I had no problem with them on the Pioneer A104 and a very fussy Toshiba SD-1200 DVD Player.

As far as buring to DVD for the set top DVD play, I found sucess varried based on the burning software, not the media. After I starting using the right program I ever burned another coaster.

Got this 25-pk spindle when Omax had them for sale at $24.99. These are 2X DVD-R (general).

This are good for making backups of important data on huge HDD. Made 2 coasters when burning with Nero 5.5.10.42. No coaster at all with RecordNow Max 4.5. Using a Sony DRU-500A (2.0f).

DVD FAQ
data = good ...movies = not at all on an A05 like NICKel

I have the DVR-105 and I've had no problems with Khypermedia or any other cheap media since I switched to RecordNowMax. I found that all my DVD media issues went away when I stopped using Nero on the 105. I can't say why but from my experience I would say the software is a bigger factor than who makes the media. These work fine for both data and video (at least they do for me).

Edit: Just tried Nero 6, it's a bit bloated but it works great on the 105, including burning some of my cheap media at 2x without using hacked firmware. So far so good.

Odd, I have the same burner, and it has played in both of my set top dvd players, as well as all dvd rom drives I have. Perhaps it is the way you are burning them? I like these discs a LOT more than those compusa discs, although I haven't really had much of a problem with them.

I tried these, in my A05, if it is over 4GB, then they will turn out bad. You have to have files smaller than 4GB so you don't even *approach* the disc edge, these are questionable quality.

Are you referring to their CDR media or DVD-R? I've used KH CDR media and think their CDR media is great. As for DVD, I bought 10 discs of their 5-pack disc set and haven't tried them yet. I've heard mixed reviews, but their packaging says general data purposes, not dvd video. Their website shows the same. Not sure if their 10 pack is different speed from their 5-packs, but from my understanding, their 5 packs are 1x speed (no where on the packaging does it say the speed). I think I'd like the dual cases too.

I have burnt almost a hundred without any problem. Thanks to those who said these suck; that's probably the reason why my local OM still has some in-stock.

These burn at 2X in my 105 without using the hacked firmware.
I haven't had a single failed disc and I fill them to the max.
My movies play perfectly on every standalone I have (3 models no skipping).

So if this is the definition of "crap" then yes they are "crap".

How long will these last? Who knows, but can anyone guarantee that we'll even be using DVD's in 5-10 years.
