KHX4000 wont even boot at 230!

I had 512MB of corsair value and decided it was time to get a gig. When I rran the valueram, I would run my system at 275x8 with a mem divider. The ram was running 225 @ 1.8v. Everything was totallly stable. I get my gig of KHX4000, rated to run at 250fsb at 3-4-4-8. I am at the stock timings, 1.8v, and the system wont even boot at 230. I can post and windows starts to load, but I never get to my OS. At 225, i can boot, but prime95 fails after a minute. Why is my valueram outperforming this ram?

going from one to two is what I thought also, but damnit if that causes $300 memory to perform under $140 memory. I just dont see how that coudl matter. If they sell it is a dual kit to run at that speed it shoudl run at that speed with both sticks.

Also, just for the hell of it, I put it down to one stick, and I coudl get it to boot to windows at 230, then windows would crash imeaditly. 235 woudlnt post. Cannot be an issue with the # of sticks.

How many volts are you giving your RAM? I have the PC4000 Kingston HyperX and I believe it's rated for 2.7 volts. Also, did you clear your CMOS before installing the new memory?

its rated 2.6, im running 2.8 (and MBM5 is reporting in at 2.88v) so its got enough juice. And yes I cleared my CMOS....many times thus far.

is that going to hurt performance. THe ram is rated at 1T, and shoudl run at that. Looks like kingston will RMA it for a refund tho, im going to try and find some BH5.

no, its 1t. On the bright side, I am just sedning it back to the person I got it from, who has graciously offered to take it back and handle the RMA himself. I found some BH-5 for the same price, so Ill still to my DDR400 speeds and enjoy 2-2-2-5 goodness.
