Post for a buddy here...anyone have any problems with this combo? His system is really unstable now, lockups, BSOD's, random crashes in games and stuff. He's also got a GB of Crucial DDR, if that makes any difference.
First, make sure the KG7 has the latest BIOS. Second, the KG7 needs registered memory if you are using all 4 slots. Some people have good luck using regular DDR on all 4 slots but I noticed that this is usually with 128mb sticks and not 256mb. Have him try and remove just one 256mb stick and see what happens.
My kg7 in 1800 was pretty stable. But I remember it had video issuses. Sometimes it was real hard to get it to post. Also I remember video being taken out from a bios upgrade it took us 5 hours to get it working again. I have noticed video problems with several Abit boards I gues thats why I don't plain on using an Abit board in my next system.
My kg7 was real unstable when I upgraded to a xp cpu. I had to lower the slew rate in the bios to make it stable. For faq about the kg7 go to www.amdmb.com forum and do a search for kg7 under the abit section. It was very helpful to me.
