I have gone to some of the various websites to see if any of them have the KG7 in stock and some of them seem to have it in stock. I haven't tried ordering any from them to see if a "not in stock yet" messagew will appear. I also hear that they need to go into production first. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks in advance.

Those are probably just pre-order places where you can pre-order it and it'll ship the day it's realeased. I would seriously wait a while and see some reviews, I was once all hyped up about the kg-7...and now I don't even want it.

I ordered all the other stuff I need to build my system:

1.33 ghz Athlon 266 FSB
2 40 gig IBM 7200 RPM HDs
512 MB PC2100 DDR Ram @ Crucial
Enlight Medium ATX Case

I am canabalizing my Sound Blaster Live! and Geforce 2 Pro from my current system, and will also need a new NIC since my current is a 10 dollar ISA one I bought at Fry's 50 years ago :D

So basically all that is left for me is the NIC, HSF, and the mobo. If not the KG7, then what is a good board(DDR&RAID)out there for my setup? And what is a goos HSF? I heard the CAK 38 is a good one, but am open for other options. Thanks in advance.

Well a good and proven DDR board is the Epox 8k7a, and also the Gigabyte 7DX. However I'm not saying that the KG-7 won't be a bad-ass board, in fact it's suppossed to be the best, but what I mean by me not wanting it is that there are going to be new boards by the time I build my rig (Come september), and I think an nforce or an sis735 board should do me a bit better. Now granted you can't get boards made w/ these chips yet, but since I have to wait I decided to wait for these. These are suppossed to be better than the AMD 761 chipset (Which the KG-7 is based on), and on beta boards have already beaten them performance wise (I don't remember any reviews of the nforce chipset being compared to the current mobos, but I'm sure it will beat em out because of all the advancements in the chipset). If you snoop around in some forums, you should be able to find out some information on these boards. So if you're in a hurry try the epox or Gigabyte, but if you want to wait maybe a couple weeks, you can wait for the KG-7, and if you wanna wait longer you might wanna try the nforce or sis735 boards. Now HSF is really dependant on what kind of case you have. You could by the best hsf, and have no good case cooling, and your temps would still be high as hell. You have to have case cooling in order to have effective air movement around your entire pc. Now if you've already taken care of that, then I suggest you buy the sk-6. It's most definitley in the top 3 heatsinks, and with a Y.S. tech 27cfm fan, it'll provide really good cooling for you. If you don't mind the noise, you can try a delta 30cfm, or even a delta 38cfm fan (It whines and sounds like a blow dryer). That Cak is good as well, and I'm not sure about the Cak's cost, but the sk-6 can be bought at kdcomputers.com for $45.00 w/ the delta 30 cfm fan (Oh, and today they have free shipping since it's 4th of July). They might have other one's there as well.
