KFC Multicultural commercian = wtf

I've seen this commercial dozens of times probably, but never noticed that the Asians are portrayed as, well Asian, while all the other races are "normal".

http://www.8asians.com/2009/06/01/kfc-vs-kgc-wtf/

Imagine the outrage this would get if you had blacks in doorags and basketball shorts, or if you had Mexicans in traditional Mexican clothing..but it's weird how even though I'm Asian I'm completely adverse to this type of thing.

Because nobody cares if Asians are offended, they're too small and docile to defend themselves. Mexicans will cut you, Blacks will shoot you, and Whites will sue your ass into poverty. What will the Asians do? Wag a finger at you and yell rapidly in a raised voice?

AVERSE. You'd think an Asian would have better grammar.

I'd say something witty, but I don't want the OP to karate-chop me to death. Or worse, sic a huge spider on me.

The proper analogy would be blacks in doo-rags eating at the Olive Garden, or Mexicans in flannel eating at a Chinese Buffet

Every Asian guy and gal I know personally would inflict significantly more harm on themselves with said weapon. I'm pretty confident I don't have a lot to be afraid of there.

So does that mean those of Irish descent should be offended at the Folgers commercial showing the woman getting ready to do some Riverdance dancing while drinking Folgers?

I've seen that commercial like 6 times over the weekend and never picked up on it. I guess that speaks pretty well for just how strong the asian karate stereotype really is.
That blog post was funny as hell.

Is she Irish? I know that commercial and don't recall her being obviously Irish.

Did they really need the two Asian guys dressed like that?

You are asian and you think that is a martial arts outfit?

Everyone else in the thread, you all think that is what people wear to practice martial arts? Are you serious?

You think people wear aprons while fighting each other? Not to mention khaki pants and sneakers...

They are supposed to be dressed as sushi chefs, or perhaps any other type of of asian food preparing role.

Actually, when reading his post again I don't think either word is appropriate. In the context he used, "oblivious" might be a better term. So he failed on multiple levels.

look like the dudes who make my food at Kobe Shogun (it's just like Benihana(sp?) while maybe stereotypical, I have been to Kobe's about 10 times and it was always an Asian dressed just like the ones in the KFC commercial in question. Racist or not, they sure cook a mean Fillet in that garlic butter 😀
