trying to check a friends systems to see if he work installed a keylogger on his system what do guys recommend he use to scan, its a corp system on a domain and nothing is showing on his corp installed scans.

Thanks for any tips you might have.

I'm sure your friend saw/signed/agreed to to an acceptable use of Computer/Internet agreement which basically spells out that the company can monitor all computer/internet usage and misuse is grounds for termination.

The corporate machine is not your friend's property.

If he wants to use a work machine for personal use, and the company is a hard ass about it, he could boot to Linux from a pendrive, or flash card, and store his personal stuff to removable media.

You do realize that if they decided to install a keylogger on his system they're on the other end watching, merely waiting for him to do something as dumb as try to install spyware removal programs - right?

Not going to work for something developed in-house.

Perhaps not, if there is one and it was developed in-house that is.

Sysinternals, that microsoft bought, has a load of utilities to view realtime activity of processes, including dll's iirc, as well as a handful of other things, so perhaps evaluating what's going on when typing and various activities occurs could offer clues.

If the company is so anal to isntall keyloggers, I'd assume/hope that the USB drives are locked out for bootablemedia.

They can easily install key loggers as internal hardware and it is impossible to detect with software. Some companies even include gps tracking and ip recording software. So every time the laptop is connected to the internet, it records the ip and the location it was used at.

This hardware keylogger module is a special version of the KeyDemon USB and the KeyDemon PS/2, embeddable inside a keyboard. Low profile board and universal 0.1" connectors guarantee compatibility with every PS/2 and USB keyboard available. Once mounted inside the keyboard, this keystroke recorder is completely invisible for the eye and for software.

Some people take their Farmville way too seriously.

Can "your friend" afford to lose his job? If not, stop now before it's too late.
