keyboard washing question

OK, so we all know that (if its unplugged, of course), you can wash keyboards with water, even put them through the dishwasher. My question is, if you put it through the dishwasher, would the soap corrode the connections? How about the water? I'm assuming you dry it afterwards. And you can do this with mice, too, right? If it was optical, would water get inside the laser lens? Or would the heat from the dishwasher warp any of the plastic?

my silverware is stainless steel. i'll bet they don't make the wires and connectors out of that... or maybe they do?

Put it in a dishwasher ?....oh please !

Clean it with a rag, cotton swabs and Isopropyl Alchohol. Forget the dishwasher; what you gonna do if the high temp hot water (140+ degrees) melts the plastic or something else in there ? Then you'll start posting funny things on AT forums....

dumb idea. you'll only get away with it if your lucky. in my experience destroying 3 keyboards water gets trapped between layers of plastic with printed easily corroding contacts take it apart and you'll see

I had a lrge jar of salsa explode all over a keyboard. I had about 8 keys on the lower left that stopped working. As long as you didn't need those to type, it was fine.

I usually just buy a new one. I use the old standard keytronics IBM style, so it doesn't cost an arm and leg to replace.
