Every now and then I have this trouble with my keyboard where it changes the language and I get characters I don`t expect, for instance, right now if I try to type a Question Mark I get É, if I try a bracket I get ç. Itès obviously switching to French on the fly, the only way I can figure to fix it is a reboot. This has been happening for years with many keyboards and both XP and Vista. There has to be a way to change it on the fly but I canèt figure it out.

Have you got the language bar enabled at the bottom of the desktop - might be on the taskbar, or just next to it?

No, but I'll turn it on and see if I can switch it manually....

Thanks, after looking into the options in the language bar I seen I can set up profiles for different languages. So now if that happens I know the key sequence to change it back.

I never even thought of the language bar, it's usually the first thing I turn off after installing.

Yeah so it happened again by itself (only seems to happen here), but now I know to press ctrl+0 to change it to normal and it worked. So thanks again for reminding me about the language bar, solves a very long time problem.:D

I actually don't even have to keep the language bar on, it still recognizes the keystrokes when it's off.:)

It would be interesting to know what is causing the change though.

Do you use any French versions of, say, MS Office? or something like that?

I do have my language set to English Canada, and my keyboard layout set to English US, it looks like it's switching to French Canadian sometimes on it's own, why I don't know.
