i just bought a new case and moved all of my computers innards into it. now my keybord doesnt work in my os [xp], tho it works in bios. windows reports no problems. mobo is asus a7m266d. kb is just a ms keyboard. excuse my typing. onscreen keyboard is slow.

edit: the keyboard is ps2 and a pretty decent one. i tried a different ps2 keyboard and it does not work either. could i have damaged the ps2 port when i transferred my hardware to the new case? forget to plug something in? the keyboard WORKS in my bios

It is possible you could have damaged the PS/2 port. However, if that were the case, it wouldnot show up as good in BIOS. You might check Device Manager and see what it shows under "Keyboard." If it looks good - try removing it, rebooting and let Windows find it again.

I would do some investigation of the bios settings themselves. Look at settings referring to plug and play, advanced settings, etc.

Woohooo!

Who would have thought that the H.D.D. LED would have caused my keyboard not to work?

Sorry for wasting space on this forum. I found what I was looking for on the asus website. It is a known issue (but they've updated their manual) that the LED light for the IDE (HDD) was incorrectly labeled. (ASUS A7M266-D)

I unplugged the led power cord and it started working again.
