Keyboard randomly scrolls up

Hey. Not sure if this should be hidden in hardware, but I'm just looking for a quick fix.

I just installed my keyboard as part of my Cordless MX Duo. I spilled some water on it a few months ago, and after I dried it out I believe it worked correctly for a while. I've been away for a few months and just rebuilt my computer and used an old PS/2 computer while using it.

I installed my cordless MX keyboard, and when I booted up the up and down buttons were working weirdly--as soon as I hit down it would go down then back up in rows of text or choosing files, and hitting up would make it go up 4-5 lines of text/files.

I took those buttons off and cleaned them out, installed the drivers and rebooted. Now, it will scroll up a few at pretty standard intervals. Not in text, but on webpages or explorer, etc., as if I'm rotating the scrollbar on my mouse. I hope it's not still a result of the water, since I've cleaned it out and dried it out thoroughally since. (New batteries, too.)

Thanks for the help.

Any suggestions to make this stop? Every 1-2 seconds it scrolls up whenever I'm on anything over a page...

Yeah, if only to configure the peripheral buttons. That and because it wasn't working properly.

Wrong forum! :D

ETA - It should actually be in Peripherals and not Hardware FYI.

Eh, I figure a Golden Member is allowed to put some on topic in off topic once and a while when he needs a quick fix. :)

try a different keyboard to make sure it is not the computer.

I remember some time when I had w98 I had this wierd thing happening with the scrolling going on up and down.

It could be the mouse or a virus.

Yeah, once I take the batteries out and plug in a different USB keyboard it works perfectly. I'm sure it's the keyboard.

well my keys started doin random stuff like that after I spilled water over my keyboard and it was all dried out. I think it is because of the water damage and not a software issue.

Yeah, I'm afraid of the same, I'm just hoping for some other ideas/tips. I just want to avoid losing a $40 piece equiptment over spilled water.

yeah, same with me after spilling water on mine but then again I was planning on replacing my keyboard with the logitech G15 when it came out. So I guess it was another good reason to buy the new G15 keyboard and now I am happy I did; it is simply awesome.
