Does a keyboard have to state that it is compatible with your OS even if your computer has the right type of connection port? My keyboard has been causing a strange problem with my computer ever since I started using it. It only requires a PS/2 connection, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on any computer as long as it has PS/2 support. My keyboard box does not mention support for my OS(Windows XP), but it does mention support for Windows 98/2000/NT. Could this be why I am experiencing problems, or is this some kind of driver/motherboard conflict? Do keyboards even have drivers? I would appreciate any help.

If your keyboard is one of those standard 102 button deals and is compatible with 98/2k/nt, it should not have any problem working with your OS. If it has special "hot buttons" or a built in trakpad, etc, then it might be a reson for it to act funky.

What exactly is that "Strange problem" that you describe? What is the make/model of the board?

My keyboard is just listed as a Belikin Components Classic Keyboard, but it does have hot keys for the Windows Start Menu, Wake-up, sleep, power, and a turbo key. The problem is hard to describe in detail, but basically the keyboard can cause my entire computer to get stuck at the screen with the Windows XP logo during the boot sequence. If the three green lights on my keyboard(Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock) are flashing, then my computer will not get stuck, otherwise I have to turn off my power supply and re-connect the keyboard in order to get my keyboard lights flashing again. It's a real pain in the @$$. Are the hot keys causing all this trouble?

Have you tried a diferent keyboard ????
Keyboards do have drivers.
Common keyboard problem is for one key (or a group of keys) to not work.
Other common problem is a loose cable connection.
Thats all I can offer.

I don't have an extra keyboard lying around, but I'm pretty close to using a hammer on my current one. Before I buy a new keyboard though, I want to find out why this problem is happening so that I don't make the same mistake again. I know the problem is not a loose connection because I have to re-connect it all of the time. Also, as far as I know all of the keys work perfectly, it's just that the keyboard can cause the computer to get stuck at the Windows XP logo screen sometimes. Do keyboard drivers have much of an impact on the way your keyboard works? Where can you find your keyboard driver info?

BUMP... suggestions anyone? Maybe I'll just buy a new keyboard if I can't figure this out. But, as I said before, I don't wan't to make the same mistake again.
