keyboard problem

i have a new microsoft wheel mouse optical, when i plug it into the usb port and start windows it works... but when i try to type i can't, my keyboard light is on..i know my keyboard works..

i have windows 98se and the keyboard is a logitech internet keyboard

how can i make the kb work?
