Keyboard Problem

I am having a wierd keyboard problem.

Whenever I type a t or a y the number 5 and 6 come up

(like t5 and y6)

When I hit caps lock, whatever program I am in, the Help comes up.
When I hit backspace, whatever program I am in, the "Open File" dialog comes up.

However, it seems to come and go, as I was typing this, it stopped doing it, however, it will start again in 5-6 minutes. I am on a Dell 600m.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Have you done av/spyware scans?
If so, which ones?

Also, have you spilt anything over your kb recently?

If you have a can of compressed air, you could try using that when the machine is off.

I have run spybot/adaware and norton

nope, havent spilled anything on it either. And I spray compressed air in it almost weekly.

Maybe too much compressed air

Anyway - could be the kb is just on its way out - OR check that numeric pad isn't enabled on the kb.

hmm...something like that happened to me after my cat spilled a glass of water that was next to my keyboard and all of the water went into my keyboard. When I pressed certain keys after it was dry again not numbers but symbols came up like f? p? w?. And like with your keyboard it came and went away at times. I am not sure if you spilled something on your keyboard recently but if so that probably caused it.
