Keyboard not working during boot

I can get into bios fine with my keyboard working except for if I go into one status screen, but between bios and windows the keyboard just won't work on things like selecting which windows install to run. Once I get into windows it works fine. I hear using the ps/2 port will fix this on this motherboard, but I'd rather not run out and find an adapter or different keyboard is there any other way to fix this?

Have you tried different USB plugs? Don't know what else to advice. I have the board (GA-P55M-UD2) but am using the ps/2 port for my keyboard.

I had the same problem with the USB keyboard. It would just freeze in bios. I used a Ps2 keyboard to work in the bios and to install windows. After that I used a USB keyboard.

This is a little old now but unplugging and re-plugging the USB keyboard does the trick.

But I guess that by now you've already upgraded to the newer BIOS releases which have resolved the issue (I now that at least F4k has it fixed).

Actually this is a bug in GA-P55M-UD2. This behavior happens with the legacy support enabled in BIOS (that's why it works when you re-plug the USB keyboard). Gigabyte fixed the issue in later BIOS releases.

Edit: I got to this thread looking for the UD2 motherboard and I guess I've mistaken its main topic for something motherboard related. "CDC Mail Guy's" suggestion should do it in a normally working motherboard.
