Keyboard not present error

Im running an Athlon 2600+ on an ASUS A7N8X mobo, with 1 gig of Kingston Hyperx ddr ram and Atti 9800 aiw. The system was running fine until recently. Now in the middle of booting, it would just hang up...keyboard and mouse would stop working. and on restart, it would give me the Keyboard not present error at bios.

What could be causing this? any ideas?

weird, I just went thru this last week with same board while installing in wifes computer. I ended up having to jumper the keylock to get it to work. try it you will be ok. took me 1 full day to figure it out. btw use a jumper from a hd, it worked for me.

how do you go about doing that?

look on page33 of youre manual. item 25:keyboard lock. locate those pins and jumper them. you will then be able to boot normally.
good luck

hey dirtybird,
did that fix you're problem?
lets us know, this might be an ongoing problem with this board, and if so it would be great if I did stumble upon a fix for it.
thanks
