Keyboard not detected until desktop

I'm liking my new keyboard (Microsoft ergo 4000) but I can't use the keyboard until my computer has fully booted. So I can't go into the bios or safe mode or anything like that. Got the newest drivers for it, so I dunno what to do.
 
Get a PS2 Keyboard and enable USB fuctionality in the BIOS. If this isn't enabled a USB Keyboard will not work in the bios since the bios won't know to look for it. So then you have to wait for the OS to load and get the USB drivers loaded.
