This is a problem I have been living with for months. The only reason I haven't asked earlier is because I haven't had reason to.

Here is the deal. I have a Logitech optical mouseman and a Microsoft Natural Pro(The one with all the quick keys across the top). My problem is only seen when playing games. It doesn't matter what type of game, randomly after holding a key down on the keyboard it will get stuck(not the actual key) and I will continue to move whichever way the key I was pressing moved me. It really sucks because it usually happens when I am strafing in FPS games and it gets me stuck going on direction and the only way to fix it is to bring the console down. I can die and it will continue to move me in whichever direction. This will happen with any key. It seems that for some reason after you hold down a key for a while it decides to continue sending the signal even when you let go of the key.

I would return the keyboard but I don't think it is a defect in my keyboard. My friend who has a normal Microsoft natural keyboard had the exact same problem. He solved his problem by moving his keyboard from the PS2 port to the USB port. That fixed his problem. I however am not so lucky. It doesn't matter what port I plug the keyboard into. The same thing happens. For all the people that might think it is an OS problem, it isn't. It originally started happening on Windows 2000. A couple weeks ago I installed Windows XP. Same exact thing. I have tried going with the special drivers for my keyboard and using the standard Windows keyboard drivers.

I have tried different combinations of putting my mouse on PS2 and keyboard on USB and vice versa.

Help?!?!

Unfortunately, it's possible that noone has replied because noone knows how to fix your problem. I realize that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but I just wanted to let you know that at least some of us are seeing your posts, whether or not we are actually able to help... :(

My guess is this is a driver incompatibility with win2000, it just needs to get fixed, my logitech mouseman wheel has the same problem in quake (it keeps going forward or keeps shooting (mouse 1 or 2) sometimes), so maybe an input problem in win2000? Input problem maybe because my mouse has the same problem as your keyboard. Dunno, but it gets really annoying sometimes :/, havent found a fix for it yet.

Good luck :0

Dont know if it helps you but anyway. I used to have the same problem on rare occasions.
Problem disappeared since I moved from VIA Apollo Pro133A mobo to AMD.
Could be a coincidence.

My problem has only appeared since I went from my Abit BH6 with a celery 450 to my Duron 900 with an Abit KT7 :) My friend has an Asus board with a P2-450 and has the same problem. :)

My friend had a Natural ELite for a while and never experienced this problem under win2k, or 98se. Sorry we can't help!
I would recommend trying another keyboard and seeing if that works.

how come when i post this problem, i get no replies?? a-holes...

here is what i have found out:

most people using smp, via and win2000 (read: or XP) have had usb latency problems. i think thats bs...i think its a via & win2k problem...sometimes i got the guy goes walking in a straight line problem, and it was usually in fps. and now what i get is a horirble stutter from my mouse after x amount of time in fps. it doesnt matter what port, usb and ps2, thats why i think this isnt a latency issue.

i cant explain why others havent had this trouble, but i can say its mostly via and win2k people, both ms and logi keyboards and mouses.

there are some article from MS saying its vias fault, and then via saying its ms fault. the truth is neither company gives a crap. if intel chipsets were on more smp boards, id give up my abit board in a sec, but abit boards are so feature packed that i would lose money.

so in conclusion, people know about it, no one cares, and both you and I are screwed.
