Keyboard lubricant?

Nocturnal

Lifer
I really want the brand new keyboard feeling that I once had when I originally purchased my Microsoft Natural keyboard. It has this really really really soft key strokes. I seem to now have to press down a little harder and at times the keys can get stuck to something, I don't know exactly what is getting stuck. It's as though it needs some type of lubricant though.

Does anyone have any idea or clue to what I'm saying and does anyone know exactly what kind of lubricant can be used?

Use a can of compressed air to get the junk and dust out from under the keys. If any particular keys are still stubborn, I found I had to actually remove the suspect key and see if there was any thing holding back on it.

You know what is weird. I popped a key off this new keyboard I picked up tonight and the plastic thing is kinda high up there so the key has an easier time to compress the white plastic piece that touches the keyboards electronic sensor. I'm wondering if after a certain amount of time the plastic just wears out. That sucks because $39.99 is a lot to me. I think if I buy a keyboard I shouldn't have it go bad on me within six months.

Just buyt the $6 Lite-on KB from Newegg, or anywhere else that has it. It's an excellent keyboard if you don't need any media buttons, and extremely quiet.

I had the same think happen to mine.

I just poured seltzer water in there (the bubbles help scrub) and shook it really hard.

worked like a charm

Try popping the keys and cleaning underneath them.

My cheap keyboard was getting kind of gross under the keys, so I took the entire thing apart, washed it with a little bit of soap in water, let it all dry, and put it back together. Works like new. Took awhile to do, but it saved the keyboard.
