Keyboard Delayed Reaction? Lag When Typing.

I was cleaning my PC parts as I do every month.. and once I put all the parts back together... and started to type.. The text "lagged" when I typed.

I can type the word "Billionaire" for example. It'll type "Bil", pause (freeze), then a moment later fill all the remaining text that I already typed. So you do not see "Billionaire" being typed, it just appears a second later. Also, when I delete a bunch of characters, I do not know what is being deleted because it takes a second or two to actually load what was deleted.

It's not only really bothersome when typing but when playing games, this problem is occurring in. I didn't have any problems before the cleaning... whats wrong?

-No backround apps running.
-g15 keyboard
-2gb memory
-29 processes running
-no anti virus running
-4200dual core processor
-tried switching usb ports.
-have no other keyboard to try.

Before the cleaning, and after.. no games were installed, no applications, nothing.

Also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers + a system restart... NO change...

That kind of delay is most often the result of the CPU being occuppied with other tasks so that the keyboard scancodes are queued and wait "their turn."

More often than not, this is the result of a lot of crap stashed in your OS. Have you done a thorough malware scan/removal?

So no ideas?... that sucks hopefully when i get my new motherboard in the mail next week I can test it again..

OK - go into config sys and uncheck things and reboot - see if it improves. Could be a lot of stuff running in background. Also do a good optimization defrag.

Again, only 29 processes running. I checked MSConfig. I checked virus scanner... it's all up in the main post.

Last defrag was a week ago, but I'll do another I suppose.

Also to note, when the computer freezes during the time the text doesn't show up, the CPU meter spikes to near 50% of CPU usage.

Notice the spikes in CPU demand. They are the results of the computer not responding and/or
"freezing" when nothing is displayed.

The LDC + LCG +LDG etc.. programs running are for my G15 keyboard. I've owned this keyboard for nearly two months and have never had any problems with it.

Starting to sound like a memory problem. How much RAM? How big a page file?

DUDE... RUNDL32.EXE? Malware/virus/trojan or such.

Edit - Trojan! There are a bunch of them that use the same name. Go to the Security forum and find a scanner.

rundl32.exe is a process which is registered as the W32/Agobot-TO virus. It takes advantage of the Windows LSASS vulnerability, which creates a buffer overflow and instigates your computer to shut down. To see more information about this vulnerability please look at the following Microsoft bulletin: http://www.microsoft.com/techn...bulletin/ms04-011.mspx.

Sounds like it could be your problem.

EDIT: notice the process isn't called rundll32, but rather rundl32.

That was the one that exploited XP before SP2 (patch was in 2004). Since, the same file has been used over again. If Coldkilla is only running SP1, than that it probably it. Otherwise, it is a later exploit. Since his malware scan did not find it, I suspect it is a newer exploit that is AV aware/disabling. But, he could be running SP1 on a reinstall.

Other possibilities, StartPage trojan (not a logger), Funner, Demotry, etc.
