keyboard and mouse not working

the kb and mouse arent working on this computer. i jusr upgraded from winme to winxp pro. its the ps2/kb ports that arent working, im typing this with a usb mouse and on screen kb. but winxp still see's the kb/mouse as being installed and working in the addhardware cntrl panel. wtf? the lights dont even work on the keyboard. btw this is on a dell xpst500. plz help!

this guy seemed to have the same prblem as i do but i dont want to have to resort to formatting plz help.

and my keyboard works at startup [i can use it in the bios area], just when winxp starts it stops working.

Remove them from your device manager and reboot.
If it is not detected then you need to install drivers for those particular devices. (Depends on manufacturer)

Why did you upgrade and not do a CLEAN installation of Windows XP? Upgrading will almost always lead to problems.

Upgrading will always lead to problems. I think you should reformat. Just back everything up and go!
