The way I think about it, is that EVOs computer compensates what they could not get done right mechanically, STIs don?t have that problem.

WTF are you talking about? How about posting some real info instead of being incredibly vague. That said, the Evo is the superior car because it's cheaper, outhandles the STi, has the better engine for modifcations, and is overall faster in the 1/4.

I'm sure it does, but a stiffer aftermarket one will make the difference. WRXs have rear swaybars, they just result in a lot of understeer, so swapping it out makes it [more] neutral/gives it more oversteer.

The STI has a DCCD though, so you can oversteer all you want after hitting one button.

Anyways, if you don't care to mod out your car buy the STI. If you wanna mod your car out, get the Lancer since there's more aftermarket support.

Also, if you're scared of pushing your car farther than you feel comfortable, get the Lancer, whereas if you're insane and enjoy pushing the limits without knowing precisely where they are, then get the STI. The Lancer is definitely easier to drive according to virtually everybody who's driven both, but the STI can do a lot more than people are willing to push it for.

Personally I'd get the Evo VIII MR. Or drop the mad G's to import the FQ-400 hahaha.

Put a fatter rear sway bar on it and add some negative camber to the front, the understeer goes away. Flip the DCCD to the rear, and you can oversteer like RWD.

OTOH, the Evo has a joke of an interior, nearly unreadable gauges, and poor reliability, and none of that can be corrected easily by aftermarket parts...

Do yourself a favor, don't buy either one.

Massive? Compared to what? Have you even driven one at its limits compared with some of the other cars you're cross-shopping?

It will slightly understeer at its limit, however if you lift a bit the front end tucks in neatly and allows you to pull back into your racing line. As others have mentioned, a thicker rear sway and/or more aggresive alignment can cure that rather easily. Also DCCD fully open = easy power-on oversteer. I've had the tail step out without too much effort.
