Yet another explosive story just now from WaPo:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/house-majority-leader-to-colleagues-in-2016-i-think-putin-pays-trump/2017/05/17/515f6f8a-3aff-11e7-8854-21f359183e8c_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_transcript-6pm:homepage/story&utm_term=.241733010558

Evidently there is a recording of a conversation among several House repubs in June of last year, where McCarthy, who is the House majority leader, says "There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump." Rohrabacher is apparently another GOP congressman who is very pro Russia.

After McCarthy makes the statement, "Paul Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: 'No leaks...This is how we know we’re a real family here.'"

While this doesn't prove that Trump actually was being paid off, only that it was McCarthy's opinion that he was, it goes a long way toward showing the hypocrisy of the GOP's current defense of Trump.

Wow.

There's also supposedly one of Kislyak and Priebus talking about laundering money. There might even be another Paul Ryan tape. Loving the avalanche of bombshells coming!

What I wrote in another thread on this:

I love (slash hate) this part of the article.

When initially asked to comment on the exchange, Brendan Buck, a spokesman for Ryan, said: “That never happened,” and Matt Sparks, a spokesman for McCarthy, said: “The idea that McCarthy would assert this is absurd and false.”

After being told that The Post would cite a recording of the exchange, Buck, speaking for the GOP House leadership, said: “This entire year-old exchange was clearly an attempt at humor. No one believed the majority leader was seriously asserting that Donald Trump or any of our members were being paid by the Russians. What’s more, the speaker and leadership team have repeatedly spoken out against Russia’s interference in our election, and the House continues to investigate that activity.”

Fucking lying pieces of shit, lol.

That one need more than "supposedly". The tape itself would have to be produced. I guess we'll see.

Fucking lying pieces of shit, lol.

If you look at the transcript, the others in the room did laugh when McCarthy said it, interrupting him, but then he said "I swear to God" indicating that he was serious. The laughter continued through Ryan's saying that this is to be kept private. So some of them may have taken it as a joke, but evidently neither Ryan nor McCarthy was laughing.

It would be better to hear the tape in order to gauge McCarthy's and Ryan's tone of voice. However, the fact that they first denied this was ever said tends to undermine their credibility.

Que? Link?

The tape of Ryan was reported by Louise before the MSM. The Ryan tape is a bit different then how she reported it, but still...

https://patribotics.blog/2017/05/11...-means-president-hatch-rico-case-against-gop/

"This report is a clarification of what I have previously said I had heard on Twitter; namely that Ryan himself was taped at the Republican convention talking to Sergei Kislyak accepting Russian money into the campaign. Following the unconstitutional dismissal of patriot FBI Director Comey by Sessions and Trump, sources have become more forthcoming. It was, they say, Reince Priebus who was taped talking to Sergei Kislyak and other Russians at the convention, agreeing to accept laundered or disgused Russian contributions, and Speaker Ryan is on a later intercept admitting that he knew of this plot, which places him at risk of a large number of criminal charges. A RICO case is being examined against the GOP itself, sources say."

Yep, and they all know about Russia's meddling. They didn't care though because they are hell-bent on getting the tax cuts for the rich. The ends always justify the means to them. There's similarities with all the other sleazy things they do such as voter suppression.

I find this difficult to believe, but we'll see I guess (this person did get the original story significantly wrong though, it appears).

Even though it's sad that Ryan's spokesman appears to have been caught in a lie (or just spouted off without talking to Ryan), I have to believe McCarthy was joking. No way he says that with a straight face, but yeah I'd love to hear that recording.

it's the "swear to God" that makes me think otherwise.

Way too many leaks seem "timed" for me to feel comfortable here... Taking everything now with a big fuggin nugget of salt... I think the GOP may be trying to flush someone out...

and the fact that Ryan is on tape swearing everyone to secrecy and saying the Republicans are family and they need to keep this under wraps.
Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: “No leaks. . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.

Republicans are disgusting. Putting their party ahead of the United States. I cannot believe it but everyone one of them should be voted out. Disgraceful.

I could believe he'd say it in private. Also, I have to wonder at Ryan's remark about "no leaks. his is how we know we’re a real family here." That last comment is hard to interpret as a joke, and why would Ryan say it if he understood McCarthy to be joking. I'm honestly undecided on it.

I'll say this though: what and who someone chooses to joke about says something about that person's mind set. If it was a joke, it was a joke at the expense of Trump and Rohrabacher, who really is quite pro Putin, which AFAIK McCarthy is not. What I'm saying is that this joke was an implied criticism of Trump and Rohrabacher in relation to their pro Putin stance, even if McCarthy didn't literally believe they were being paid.
