Kevin McCarthy exposed (again) as a LIAR by Rachel Maddow with audio.

I think the main reason Republican politicians weren't more angry at McCarthy over this is most of them share his feelings. Privately contemptuous, publicly supportive. They're probably worried they are on tape somewhere saying the same thing.
It literally does not matter what GOP politicians do when it comes to Republican voters. I just posted something in the P&N meme thread about a guy who was recently charged with the murder of his wife winning his primary. The only threat is if they turn on the party and are easily replaceable by another GOP lapdog. If there is even a hint that they'll lose to a Democrat though, it isn't just Trump who could shoot people dead on 5th Ave.

Not gonna create a new thread for this, but I went to see Rachel Maddow two nights ago as part of a speaker series up in SF. She appeared with a surprise guest, Dr. Michael McFaul, who was ambassador to Russia for 3 years during Obama. She has interviewed him several times on her show, mostly with questions about Russia. This time he interviewed her instead, on stage. Anyway, she mostly talked about her new book "Prequel," which was given out for free to attendees, though the copies were not signed. Anyway, her book is about the history of the fascist movement in America during the first half of the 20th century. It talks about people like Henry Ford, Charles Lindburgh, father Coughlin, and other lesser known figures. She says to be cautious about drawing too many parallels with present day, though she acknowledges that some parallels exist.

Anyway, she was terrific, one of the best talks I've ever attended. Unlike most political commentators, she's like 90% fact and 10% opinion, instead of the opposite which is what we're used to seeing. She also has a wicked sense of humor, and answered impromptu questions from the audience brilliantly. So if she comes to a town near you, don't hesitate to attend.

She's very impressive. Always has been.
