Max Cleland blew his legs and arm off picking up a U.S. made grenade,
Kerry "earns" his first Purple Heart after getting "wounded" by a fragment of his own grenade...

Democrats should stay away from grenades....

Well he served in Vietnam. Bush was snorting coke at that time. Kerry should rip on Bush about the time that he got busted with cocaine.

sorry but if I had to choose I would much rather own up to doing some blow than getting blown up by my own grenade...

You're right. Kerry throwing a hand grenade poorly while fighting in Vietnam is not nearly as admirable as Bush snorting coke. What were we thinking?

"The wound was covered with a bandaid."

...that explains the 3 months, 3 purple hearts (though Kerry's Commander turned him down, he went around him) 'nam tour...missed two days of duty...smells fishy. I wish he would sign the petition to have ALL of his medical and military records released, but that isn't likely...he's done; put a fork in him.

Keep dreaming. Kerry didn't give himself a purple heart. If you want to review every purple heart given out in Nam, be my guest, but right now you are just bashing Kerry for the sake of bashing Kerry.

There was one working her tail off trying in California! ;)

You may not think much of his service! Ronald Reagan is also a veteran of WWII.

My fault. I knew that he was in the "public relations" section, did not realize that he was active duty.

Letson says he has had no contacts with anyone from the Bush campaign or the Republican party

Scurry along now X-man, surely YOU could write something more credible than this garbage.

Why should I scurry along? I offered no editorial, I simply put up an article for discussion.

Well either your lying or just ignorant. Because Clinton won Ark. in both 1992 and 1996 easily. So much for him not being liked. Your just a republican troll. :p

Anyway, the doctor probably saw 20-50 guys a day and remembers Kerry? Ok. I hope you never serve on a jury if you believe this orchestrated crap.

Oh, and something else, I'd like nothing more than to see Kerry blown out of the water before the Democratic National Convention because my distaste for the man is complete. Please, if you can find something substantial, don't give it to us, give it to the national news media.

Well I got a email from the doc that worked on me for a scorpion sting, Now to remember something that small and that was 34 years ago, He found me on the Golden Dragons webpage, He was looking for our Captain and to work on someone like Kerry yes I think the doc would remember very well, You know if you had the same thing you would do the same thing I would and pull the dam thing out your self and not even bother with it

im guessing both, as Clinton wasn't disbared from practiceing law in Arkansas until he lied under oath about his relationship with Lewinsky.

I'm grossly disappointed that that scumbag doctor thought so little of patient-doctor confidentiality that he threw it away to make some political hay. I hope the rest of us have dealt with doctors that come with a functioning code of ethics.

The issue at hand has nothing to do with Clinton, by the way-let that go. It also doesn't directly have anything to do with George W. "Fortunate Son" Bush's Vietnam era "honorable" avoidance, either. It has to do with medical ethics and dirty political tricks. Even if the worst wound Kerry ever got in Vietnam was a pimple, I still admire him for having the fortitude to go. I'm from that generation, and am very much aware how easy (and common) it was for our privileged "elite" to avoid Vietnam, like Bush did.

Oh, I agree. I don't go to the hospital unless I've stopped breathing or have lost at least a quart of blood. :) If doctors had to make a living off me they'd all be poor as church mice. But, yeah, I agree about Kerry's first PH. Also, is it just me, or does Kerry really strike everyone else as a bit of a wuss? I mean, GW is a complete moron, but at least he isn't a wuss. I hate wusses. And America is full of wusses today. Fat ones, mostly. :)

Not to digress, but my secondary MOS in the Marines was as the ABC non-com. (It later became NBC, as you may recall.) Anyway, we were out in the field at Camp Geiger and they were throwing canisters of every imaganible, non-lethal gas, at us and they started a roaring fire. Sheezh. It was August in N.C. so it was hot, hot hot. Anyway, about 30 minutes later they finally get a couple of pumpers over to the fire and WE, meaning the students, had to put it out. I don't know if you've ever held one of those hoses at the nozzle, but they are not small and the water pressure is pretty darn high, so it's like trying to control a 10,000 pound python. :) Anyway, it was like Farhenheit 1000 in that woods and all of us had small burns from the embers, and we had swallowed and breathed about 2 hours of smoke, but no one went to the hospital. As I recall, I went to the NCO Club and took generous advantage of happy hour. :) BUT, if Kerry got a PH, I should have gotten a PH, if injuries were the only qualification.

I know what you mean about the doc remembering you. I've had a lot of ex-Marine buddies send me emails out of the blue. Guys I haven't thought of for almost 40 years have written me. In fact, my Captain is one of them. He still thinks it was funny that he had to ask the Major to give me Captain's Mast just because I broke some dumb Sergeant's nose. :) I didn't think it was too bloody funny at the time and it gets less funny every day. Two weeks of restriction to the barracks. Fvsk!

Scorpion sting? Sheezh, that would have been Medal of Honor material for Kerry.

Good luck, buddy.

That second post is interesting. The first post is all true of course, but Kerry still strikes me as a blue blood with a sense of entitlement. You know, after shave and cuff links and a limousine. Blech!Frankly, I will only vote for him because Nancy has refused to put Reagan in the White House like Bernie, and anyone who votes for Bush is suffering from ______, has no ______, but is otherwise an ok guy. :)

By the way, the best thing about Kerry is his wife. Now if he'd stay home and bake cookies, I could vote for HER! :)

Of course John Kerry was driving a boat around, hardly fighting it through the jungle, while Bush signs up to be a National Gaurd pilot, which as we can see in the case of Iraq DO get to fight, but Johnson decided not to send the national gaurd becuase increasing air power was less important than moving in more ground forces. So he did sign up expecting to fight, it just so happens they stayed in the states.

And so people can't find the papers that he showed up, but if he was AWOL a whole lot of damn papers would have been created, and a trial, and all the crap that goes with it, so its just a contrived story by democratics grasping at straws. Personally I feel we should all write in John Edwards, he has the character of Bush, the intelligance of a human being (as opposed to the other 2), and who actually cares what he stands for beyond that, right now we're picking between and idiot and a lier, which do u want?

Personally i'd vote for the idiot, atleast we know what we'll get.

One thing strikes me as funny:

For all the attacks and the accusations and the posturing, the only thing I've ever heard EITHER camp say is how good their candidate looks next to the opponent.

Bottom line - neither Bush nor Kerry are worth dog sh!t. I'm depressed that one of those idiots are going to be President for the next 4 years.

many sons and daughters serving their country in afganistan and iraq have lost their lives or been severely injured in military accidents. whether in transport accidents, accidental explosions, numerous helicopter crashes, they died or were injured in the line on service. i'm sure their families would be glad to know there are people like you who denigrate their contribution to this country just because they weren't lucky enough to die with a bullet in them.

like it or not, going to war involves grave risks. any accident can become crippling or lethal. you denigrate cleland for his service. you denigrate kerry because he just wasn't lucky enough to be just a wee bit closer to explosions and gunfire so that his scratches and shrapenal didn't become more serious. anyone that isn't a total ass would admit that being close enough to take shrapenal of any kind is too f*cking close.

and yet you give the cowardice of bush a slide. the hipocrisy of those who attack kerry when their own man did far less.

its your pride that blinds you to reason. you cannot afford to see bush for the poor candidate he is.
